Yes, it should be washed before spinning, using very hot water and some
type of detergent, bathing 2 times (let it soak for 30 min each) and rinsing
at least twice. It is common in the last rinse to add either a few ounces of
vinegar or denatured alcohol to bring out the natural shine and luster of
the fiber.

Yolk: the wax or grease in a mohair fleece that protects the fiber from
sun and chemical damage. When washing a mohair fleece VERY HOT
water & ammonia is required to dissolve the yolk.

Because we do not want to charge any extra expense for shipping, we will have to calculate shipping cost, once

Our flock is kept with the intention to produce quality fleece for the use in products by fiber artist.

2013 fiber crop, is nice.

To us, the raw fiber is like a un-cut diamond.
To make a amazing diamond, you have to start with a quality stone.
We are now using more expensive products to help with the issues.
We are know feeding a special feed, designed for Angora goats.
Both of these changes have amazing results. But do cost more.
To make ends meet, the cost of the raw fiber has to go up, so we can continue to produce the raw
fleece for the fiber artist.

A word on VM.
These are raw fleeces, there will be some vm, You cannot put coats on Angora Goats. We do
skirt, while we shear.
Different animal seem to have more vm, some do have some dander & yolk.
We try to price accordingly.
I am a fiber artist also, so I understand the effort to prepare the fleece.

A few changes for 2013 Pictures
We are taking a picture of the staple length while still on the
goat.
This way you can see the true color of the fleece on the
animal.
Also taking a picture as it is hanging on their front.
In a full fleece, you will be getting different staple lengths.
The pictured length, while the front well be longer.
Some area maybe a little shorter.

Another reason we decided to take this strip off over the
backbone. Is this is a place of the worst Vm. So we throw
this section away. Now the picture does show the fleece
needs washed, once washed it will be their natural color.
Also you can tell the front looks way different then the
back strip photo.
They do like to play and the section over the back, does
get the dirt from the hoofs.
